Snapshot
Challenge
Core plaintiff‑only financing plateaued in a hyper‑niche market.
Goal
Enter adjacent medical‑lien financing to unlock new TAM and secure growth capital.
Outcome
Product launched in 3 months, 98 % retention, $9 M equity + $105 M fund.
Context & Problem
In 2016, Mighty was a vertical SaaS platform for personal injury lawsuit financing, providers of cash advance against future settlements. Growth had stalled because of the hyper-niche market, putting Series B at risk.
In 2017, I led the strategic expansion from plaintiff financing into medical financing. I researched, scoped, designed and implemented the new product suite with a team of 5 engineers.
Scope & Responsibilities
  • In-depth analysis of adjacent funding markets to validate medical‑lien opportunity.
  • User research (8 interviews, 2 onsite shadows).
  • MVP scoping & roadmap facilitation with Eng + Sales.
  • End‑to‑end UX/UI design in Sketch; interactive prototype in InVision.
  • Product ownership through build, QA, GTM enablement, and post‑launch analytics.
Approach
1
Discovery
Conducted 8 in-depth interviews and 2 on-site shadow sessions. Mapped end-to-end workflows and documented processes.
2
Roadmap & MVP Scoping
Led roadmap planning sessions with engineering & sales. Defined MVP scope and prioritized launch-critical workflows.
3
Prototype & Test
Created Sketch designs and InVision prototype. Prototype used in sales demos to close 3 design partners. Refined designs based on partner feedback.
4
Build & QA
Worked with engineers to implement the solution in 6 weeks.
5
Launch & Iterate
Owned GTM messaging, enablement, and continuously tracked metrics and user feedback to ensure ongoing alignment with client needs.
